Social Events
We have planned a variety of social events to enhance your conference experience and provide opportunities for networking and relaxation. Apart from the welcome reception, coffee breaks and lunches (all of which are included in the conference fee), we are excited to offer some further opportunities in and around Graz to explore the city and its surroundings, and to connect with others.
The welcome reception is scheduled to take place in the evening of Monday, 13. July 2026, spread over the beautiful campus of the University of Graz. Our carefully curated organized social trips as well as the conference dinner will take place in the free afternoon and evening of Wednesday, 15. July 2026. More details on the dinner and the trips can be found below.

Culinary highlights with a view over Graz
Join us for the conference dinner on the #1 landmark of Graz, above the famous red rooftop landscape, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Schlossbergrestaurant offers a unique panoramic view and embodies hospitality and culinary excellence at the highest level, word-for-word.
Let us celebrate and exchange cultural and scientific perspectives, enjoy the regional and seasonal menu, and experience the transition from a spectacular sunset into a balmy summer night.
- Arrival from 18:30 onwards, dinner starting at approx. 19:00

- Getting there: the restaurant can be reached via a brisk walk up Schlossberg (approx. 20min from the conference venue), or alternatively by taking Tram Line 3 or 5 to the Schlossbergbahn station and then riding the funicular up the hill.

Trip "East" – Where Chocolate meets Volcanos
The guided bus trip to the east of Styria, where a special region awaits you. The Styrian Volcanic Land (Vulkanland) is an extinct volcanic area that has created a vibrant region where tradition and innovation melt together and blend in with nature. Experience chocolate with all your senses and taste your way through the different stages and flavors of ecological and fairly produced chocolate from the chocolate manufacturer Zotter.
After diving into the chocolate world, you will explore the culinary part of eastern Styria at Restaurant Lasslhof. The family-owned restaurant has made it their mission to indulge their guests with perfect service and local and seasonal products, located at the foot of the impressive Riegersburg castle.

Trip "South" – Where Sauvignon Blanc meets Pumpkinseed Oil
The guided bus trip to the South of Styria, where you explore history nestled in a breathtaking landscape. The first stop will be a guided tour through the Episcopal Wine Cellar of Seggau Castle, which is one of the largest of its kind in all of Europe. After the tour of the 300-year-old vaulted wine cellar, you are invited to taste the locally produced wine.
The next stop will be the Oil Mill Hartlieb. The family-owned mill produces one of the most prized and loved products of Styrians: pumpkinseed oil. The nutty taste and dark green color of the oil is a standard ingredient in Styrian households and refines not just salads but also desserts and soups.
After wine and oil tastings, the next culinary delight awaits you at Buschenschank (wine tavern) Schneeberger. There you will have original self-produced Styrian dishes, and enjoy the beautiful view in the middle of vineyards.

Trip "West" – Where Lipizzaner Horses meet Hundertwasser
The guided bus trip to the West of Styria lets you travel to unique places in the world. The outpost of the world-famous Lipizzaner Horses from the Spanish Riding School in Vienna are bred, trained, and raised in the picturesque and unique environment of the Piber Stud. All this happens in harmony with agricultural, environmental, and animal protection aspects.
The next stop will be the “Hundertwasserkirche,” which was redesigned by the Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser. Hundertwasser's distinctive forms and colors are reflected in the exceptional exterior façade, which gives that classic church a contemporary outfit. After the visit, you will have the possibility to discover new details of the church directly in front of it at the Restaurant Ratskeller. The family-owned restaurant will spoil you with delicacies from Austrian cuisine. A hidden gem for gourmets with a view of the church that can inspire your artistic ideas sustainably.
